Testers Keepers: Panasonic Juicer Review

Posted on 22 November 2016

The Panasonic slow juicer MJ-L500 is a slimline juicer ideal for keeping out on your worktop. There are many parts to the juicer but the assembly instructions are clear and easy to follow. It works by squashing the fruit or vegetables to create maximum juice.

All fruits and vegetables need to be prepared into 2cm wide pieces to fit into the feed hole on the top which is rather narrow. The pulp which is separated from the juice is quite dry to the touch. The juice is decanted into a jug with handy volume scales on it. This jug fits neatly into the pulp cup when not in use.

I juiced a variety of fruits and the juicer was quieter than expected and produced an impressive amount of fresh juice. I obtained 400ml of juice from 6 small apples but I found I needed to strain this as there was some fine pulp in it. It produced 220ml juice from 3 oranges and 110ml of juice from 4 medium carrots. All juice tasted fresh, delicious and an ideal way to get your 5 a day!

The Panasonic MJ-L500 slow juicer also comes with a frozen attachment which slots in place of the juice attachment. Using this I used some lightly thawed frozen blackberries to make a sorbet type dessert. This however needed an ice cream scoop to make it look more presentable.

Overall the Panasonic MJ-L500 slow juicer is a compact, effective juicer which has the added bonus of making healthy desserts too making it ideal for the health conscious.
