Testers Keepers: Shopping at TK Maxx review by Jane Howells

Posted on 09 May 2023

I entered the My Offers competition to become a mystery shopper at TK Maxx but didn't expect to actually win it. I could hardly believe it when I was contacted by My Offers to inform me that I had won. Thank you.

I successfully downloaded my £200 e-gift card and invited my son to join me for a spending spree. He had recently moved into a new house so was delighted by the invitation.

We visited the TK Maxx on Chesters Retail Park in Cheshire on 25th of April. It is a big store with two floors and, because it is on a retail park there is plenty of parking. The clothes and shoes are on the lower floor and the homeware is on the upper floor. We decided that the Homeware department is where we wanted to shop.

I was interested in the gardening and outdoor department. I was really taken with the choice of outdoor furniture. The Bistro sets and the Urban Balcony sets were really nice. I decided that I would like some planters as our cottage is on the side of a lane and I have planters and sinks round the outside. I had grown some hydrangea cuttings and they were ready to repot. I found two beautiful planters, one bigger than the other, which would be perfect.

My son was looking for things for the inside. I have a wicker laundry basket and he said he would like something similar. There were several big plastic ones, but he chose a lovely wicker one with handles. He also found some nice wooden chopping boards. There were lots to choose from but he chose a pack of three different sizes.

We decided to call it a day having managed to spend roughly half of our gift card. We decided to try a different store next time.

We chose the TK Maxx on the Plas Coch Retail Park in Wrexham. North Wales for our next shopping spree. We visited this on Sunday 7th May. We were really impressed with this store. Parking was easy. Again, the store had two floors but the upper floor of this store was much bigger. They had different products and a wider variety of goods than the Chester store. We spent nearly two hours browsing. My son found an ironing board in the bargain section. He also found some nice bath towels and some more items for his kitchen. I found some much-needed bath mats which matched the colour of my bathroom.

We went downstairs and my son found a lovely bracelet for his girlfriend. I decided to spoil myself and picked a lovely black leather handbag by Rowallen.

We both agreed that we thought the Wrexham branch was the best. The layout was much better and there were more products to choose from. I would attach pictures but we bought so many things.

Many thanks again for this opportunity.
