Testers Keepers: Shiatsu Electric Massage review by Teresa Smile

Posted on 12 February 2024

My first impressions of the massager were that it looked reasonably well made and sturdy. The faux leather looks good, and it doesn’t seem flimsy or that it would fall apart quickly. Generally, I found the massager easy to use. But it took a bit of getting used to for me, as I found the massage too strong and it hurt my shoulder and neck muscles, mainly I think, because these muscles were extremely tense. I ended up using the massager on top of a thick jumper which makes it more bearable for me. Two of my friends tried it and loved it from the get-go, so it probably depends on your sensitivity levels!

Shiatsu Electric Massager

The massager has a UK plug attached to a cable, so you do need to be reasonably near a plug socket, and included in the box is a plug to use in the car but I haven’t tried that. There are two front straps which you can put your hands in to pull it down onto the neck, making it easy to keep the massager in place or make the action stronger by pulling harder downward. I have found that I prefer to use it sitting in my office chair whilst using the computer (without putting my hands in the straps), pushing backwards to increase the massage strength if wanted. By using it in the chair it is also possible to position it anywhere on the back from top to bottom. It’s very easy to put on other parts of the body for a massage too, such as the thighs or calf muscles.

The massager is warm which makes it pleasant to use and by changing direction every minute it feels as if you are getting a slightly changing massage rather than continually being the same. I have now had the massager for over three weeks, and I will be continuing to use this for a while each day if possible. I find it very relaxing, and it really seems to be helping reduce tension and pain in my back and shoulders. My friends also are keen to keep using this too!
