Birmingham hosts the largest authentic German Christmas market in Europe outside of Germany and Austria with millions of people visiting each year. The Birmingham Christmas market has grown from just 24 stalls in 2001 to estimated 180 this year, offering a wide range of products, including Christmas decorations, handmade jewellery, carved wooden toys, sausages, beer and pretzels, while the Christmas craft market will offer handmade crafts, soaps and candles by local artisans. Also close by is a temporary ice rink where you can skate under a cover and enjoy the lounge café serving hot beverages and cider along with snacks and winter food favourites.
The Birmingham Christmas market will be open from 10am to 9pm every day from November 7th and closes on 23rd December.
A combination of roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate, mulled wine and festive foods can be enjoyed while you walk amongst excited customers who admire the pretty, wooden stalls. Live music adds to the festive atmosphere.
Accommodation is relatively easy to find when visiting the Christmas Market. There are half a dozen hotels very close to the site, all with prices that will not demolish your budget.
