Testers Keepers: Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat palette review by Mike Carlisle

Posted on 12 April 2019

I got the Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat palette for my girlfriend and she absolutely loves it. It’s really compact for dropping into a clutch bag and carrying around.

Because of its size, there isn’t room for a brush. This would have been nice, but not a major hassle to also carry one with other small bits of makeup.

The Naked Heat range has always been a favourite of hers because of the high quality and natural fiery shades that really make her eyes pop. The six shades include everything you need for highlights, the lid, and darker creases around the eyes.

They appear to be based on the best of the larger Naked Heat palettes and keep up with the Heat theme. Wild Thing is the only one that seems like a new addition and is the signature shade of the set.

If you already have the bigger Heat pallet, then you probably have most of the shades covered. However, if you want a smaller travel set or even just the convenience of a smaller size, then this one is a perfect compliment or alternative.

The pans themselves are the same size as with the larger sets, just in a smaller box and reduced number of pans.

It includes soft nudes through to fiery oranges and a dark brown which is what Naked Heat does so well. All of the shades work together amazingly and this little palette is incredible for such a compact size.

The matte pigments are really vivid and the shades blend together really well like all of the Naked range. Some of the lighter shades are a little chalky and powdery in the pan than she would like.

Because the palette is so well pigmented, it does mean that when she’s applying the makeup she has a lot of control over the placement of the colour. The blending works really well and she can decide how much or how little to apply.

The impact you can achieve from such a small pallet is really amazing. You could also use it for more subtle everyday use if used more sparingly. The nudes can even be used to conceal tired eyes, although it depends on how well it matches your particular skin tone. It’s definitely best for nights out and when you really want to make a high impact.

The shades in this set are really trendy right now with warm and natural brown colours. The fiery orange gives it a bit of additional glamour on the lid. The box itself is beautifully designed and a really cute size as well as practical. Of course, there’s a handy mirror included which is a must for doing makeup on the go and for close up work.

The final verdict. It’s highly recommended if you don’t already have the original Naked Heat palette or want something a little more convenient for travel or dropping in a clutch bag. Like with the original Naked Heat palette, it’s got some incredible vivid shades and it really lasts.
