Now I’ve always been naturally drawn to wet shaving. A good old sink with a bit of hot water, gel and razor; it takes time and there’s always the clean-up operation afterwards.
I was given the opportunity to test the Philips Series 9000 and putting my old razor down I can very much say it is staying in the cupboard for the foreseeable future!
The device gave a surprisingly close and comfortable shave, and just as close as to what I have been used to in the past.
I’ve always had sensitive skin, but using this both wet and dry leaves a brilliant shave.
It comes well equipped, with a spacious case which houses a precision trimmer, which is useful when edging the sides.
I would say though this doesn’t cut as close as the razor head itself. Exchanging the heads is very easy and there are additional add-ons that you can purchase, such as nose or head trimmers for the complete package.
The battery charging is very quick, 50 minutes and it is fully charged, which lasts for a long time.
I’ve not charged the device for over 10 days and it is still going strong! Obviously this will depend on how long you use the shaver each time.
It is priced at the top end of the market, and at £300 it’s pricey considering there are other products on the market that do the same.
If the product was priced between £100 - £150 it would be something that I would go for knowing it is the top range of shavers.
Despite the cost, I would readily recommend this enough - it works well, is well made, it is fantastic quality, runs very quietly, and most importantly it does the job it's supposed to do and does it brilliantly.
It is very easy to use and understand though it does come with an instruction manual should you need it.
