Testers Keepers: Frankie & Benny's review by Louise Murphy

Posted on 21 March 2019

We visited Frankie & Benny's at the Middlebrook Bolton on Monday evening.

The restaurant was fairly quiet (ish) and we was greeted by a young waitress. Friendly, smiling, very pleasant and was shown straight to a table.

Menus were left with us along with some colouring pencils and an activity sheet for my grandson.

Our drinks order was taken immediately as we knew without needing to look at the menu what we wanted. On ordering the child's drink, the waitress kindly informed us that a drink was available as part of the children's deal and certain juice is refillable, so we ordered that.

The food order was taken not too much longer after that, as I needed extra time (I'm not good with too much choice).

We placed our order asking if certain things could be left off, other things added on and cooked to personal choice, all of this was agreed.

Everything that we ordered was available and when it came to dessert, the waitress told us as she gave us the menus what they'd run out of.

The food was brought out promptly, and more importantly was hot.

Starters: Mushroom bruschetta – highly recommended by my daughter (and that doesn't happen often, so they must be good). Loaded potato skins – I found these to be a bit dry and probably wouldn't order them again. Garlic bread with cheese - delicious, it was a fight for the last piece.

Mains: Cheese bacon burger – this is where it was leave things off, add things on. The bacon cooked crispy, it came out and it was perfect. Chicken Parmigiana – very nice and enjoyable although it's not something I'd order again.

The children's meal is amazing value for money and lots of choices available – my grandson had the chicken breast nuggets, fries, corn on the cob, ice lolly and a drink.

When it came to ice lolly time, the waitress apologised that they had no rainbow lollies left (the bottom lip almost made an appearance).

We settled for the other flavour, however when she came back she'd managed to find one, making one little boy very happy.

Although quite full, we did ask to see the dessert menu and ordered chocolate brownies with ice cream - served warm and very nice and sticky toffee pudding with ice cream – I've got to say it was amazing.

We will almost definitely be back for another visit – I couldn't fault a thing. Friendly, polite chatty staff, prompt service, good choice on menu, generous portion sizes, reasonably priced, the restaurant was clean.

All in all, good value for money and a pleasant experience, I will definitely be recommending to family and friends.

Thank you from three very happy (and very full) customers.
